Google Celebrates Selena Quintanilla

Tuesday’s Google Doodle payed tribute to the late Mexican singer, Selena Quintanila. The debut of Selena’s first album released on that very day, October 17th, back in 1989.

Who is Selena Quintanilla?

Born and raised in Texas, Selena is known as the Queen of Tejano Music. The Mexican-American singer began singing as a little girl in her father’s very own restaurant. Although she was the youngest of her siblings, she was the star of each performing set. The family band was named Los Dinos and Selena was just 15 years old when she won female entertainer of the year at the Tejano Music Awards, along with many other awards throughout her career.

Although Selena was wildly popular amongst the Mexican culture for her singing and dancing- she was also most iconic for her style. Google celebrated her life, now let’s celebrate her fashion influence.

Selena’s most memorable looks:

A casual wear with a white button-down shirt knotted to show off her stomach, traditional Mexican cultural garbs, and a darling gown worn for the acceptance of her Grammy Award.

Queen of rocking bustiers, her amazing body danced and twisted all over the stage. Selena was among the first of many entertainers to wear the close-fitted strap and strapless tops, which circulated in and out of style over the years. With dazzle and sparkle, her signature look inspired women all around the world.

Bodysuits became a big trend in 2015, peaked in 2016, and are still in style right now. Selena was way ahead of the game and strutted each body suit with class.
