Myths About Banana You Should Stop Believing Now…

Banana Is A Bad Fruit Choice

When it comes to fruits, bananas get a very bad rap. There are too many people who believe that they will be better off eating other fruits than eating a banana. This is not true. To explain it in the simplest of terms, there are about 12 grams of sugar and fewer than 0.5 grams of fat in a single banana. On the other hand, an apple has lesser protein than a banana and 19 grams of sugar. A cup of seedless grapes contains less protein and fiber than a banana and it contains over 23 grams of sugar. So, you can see why the conception about banana is wrong.

In addition to the above, banana also contains:

>>> 22% of the daily necessary intake of vitamin B6. This is important, as vitamin B6 is vital for the production of hormones such as norepinephrine and serotonin.

>>> 12% of the daily necessary intake of potassium. Potassium is vital for a healthy heart. It reduces the risk of stroke, brings down blood pressure, and hinders cholesterol absorption in the body.

>>> 17% of the daily necessary intake of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is responsible for fighting oxidative damage, promoting youthful-looking skin, and developing strong immunity.

Bananas Make You Fat

Containing over 100 calories, of which fat constitutes only half a gram, the risk of getting fat with eating banana is extremely low. The only way you can get fat eating bananas is if you are on a banana fad diet, and are eating nothing but bananas. Yes, consuming a lot of sugar can make you fat but that happens when sugar is absorbed and stored as fat in the body. You can avoid this, not just for bananas but also for most fruits, by not overeating them and by eating them only when you are hungry.

To conclude, bananas are a high-calorie diet and the nutritional value they bring to the table far outweigh the negative effects, if any. So go ahead and include bananas in your daily diet. A couple bananas a day is ideal and recommended by doctors and dieticians.
